Punctuality - The Impact on Learning.
When your child arrives late at school, they miss the teacher's instructions and introduction to the lesson. Vital learning such as phonics is missed and your child will get left behind their peers.
Your child may also feel embarrassed at having to enter the classroom late and possibly alone. They have missed the opportunity to socialise with their friends. Punctuality is essential for the children to start the day well.
Leave of Absence - Holidays During School Term
The law does not give any entitlement to parents to take their child out of school during term time.
The Education (Pupil Registration) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2013 prohibits head teachers granting leave of absence to a pupil. Head Teachers may consider applications that meet 'exceptional circumstances' but these are very rare.
If a child's attendance is already low this with not be authorised in any circumstance. If the absence is not authorised and leave is taken, the case will be referred to the Attendance and Behaviour Service (EWO) who may issue a Fixed Penalty Notice Fine, to each parent for each child taken out of school.
